I’ve got a “200% Bonus Limited Time Offer” messages asking me to get Airtel 4.5GB for ₦1000, and this got me asking?
Am I the only one getting this SMS from Airtel?
Sometimes last week, I got this message from Airtel that ask me to subscribe to their limited time offer that offers 4.5GB data for 1k.
I was marveled at first and believed this offer to be too good to be true.
Is this plan legit or fake or just a plot to make us subscribe to their plan?
Airtel 4.5GB for ₦1000, like I said, seem unrealistic to me.
In December 2016, NCC mandated all internet network providers to increase their tariff plan before the protest cooled off the state of affairs.
On my part, I’ve tweeted at @airtel_care for clarification but there wasn’t any reasonable response from them.

Okay, I went on to dial the code (see code below) and got something entirely different result from what they claimed it offers. Instead of seeing 4.5GB, that USSD code popped up 1.5GB.
Also on Twitter, a user claimed he got something similar but of lesser value.
Here’s his tweet:
mine was 2.25GB for N500, dial *417*2#

Airtel 4.5GB for ₦1000 Plan subscription code
Here’s the exact copy of the message sent to me by Airtel.
- Limited Time Offer!!!!! Get 4.5GB for only N1,000. To enjoy this AMAZING data bonus from Airtel, simply Dial *496*2# now.
- Another user claimed he also got 2.25GB for ₦500, dial *417*2#
So, Is this plan LEGIT?[UPDATE: 27-March-2017]
Is the Airtel 4.5GB for N1000 data plan working?
A very BIG YES. I subscribed to this plan after confirming the genuineness of thus plan. And yes, I’m enjoying 4.5GB worth of data for N1,000 only. (See screenshot as below)
According to what you see in the picture above, it means Airtel 2.25GB for N500 will also work perfectly. Although I think it’s SIM selective, it means not all Airtel SIM card is entitled to this offer.
P.S: If you didn’t get the 200% bonus message from airtel. DO NOT TRY TO ACTIVATE THIS PLAN!!!
